Youth of EGE Bringing Art to the Villages

A meaningful project from EU GSTMF and Bornova Youth Center.

Ege University (EU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture (GSTMF) and Ministry of Youth and Sports Bornova Youth Center Directorate carried out the social responsibility project “Youth from EGE Brings Art to Villages”. EU GSTMF students and the volunteers of the Bornova Youth Center Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports came together and organized a report card day event in Sarıyurt village of Bayındır. The project team gave books and art materials to the students at Sarıyurt Primary School, then played games with the children and gave information about the art activities they could do during the semester break with the materials provided.

EU GSTMF lecturer Res. Asst. Elçin Akçora As said, “The students of our faculty and the volunteers of the Bornova Youth Center Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports came together for a common purpose. We provided art materials and books to our little students so that they could spend their semester holidays pleasantly and productively. One of our main goals here was to bring university students and our little ones together and to strengthen the bond between them. We are very happy to see that our children and young people, who were affected by this situation in the difficult days due to the global epidemic, gained motivation with this project. Under the vision of our Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak which focuses on the university-society relationship should be strengthened, we will continue our efforts to expand similar social responsibility projects in the region. I'd like to thank EU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak, Dean of GSTMF Prof. Alev Fatoş Parsa, who always encourages and supports us to realize social responsibility projects, Bornova Youth Center Directorate, Sarıyurt Primary School teacher Uğur Öz, and our project team and our little students.
